Come arrivare
Begonia16 si trova nel residence Terza Spiaggia, nel comune di Golfo Aranci. Il residence è diviso in due blocchi, EST ed OVEST. Il nostro appartamento si trova nel blocco Begonia del condominio EST, quello più vicino al paese di Golfo Aranci.
L’indirizzo dell’ingresso del condominio EST è: via Libertà 197C, Golfo Aranci (SS).
All’ingresso trovate una sbarra che si può aprire con una chiavetta elettronica attaccata alle chiavi (che va appoggiata su una zona marcata con LED azzurri) o via internet, con un codice che potete richiederci.
Con la stessa chiavetta elettronica è anche possibile aprire il cancelletto pedonale situato lateralmente alla sbarra.
L’appartamento ha un solo posto auto pertanto, nel caso arrivaste con due auto, la seconda dovrà essere parcheggiata all’esterno. Adiacente al civico 197 si trova un parcheggio pubblico.
La key box
Se il metodo di consegna delle chiavi concordato prevede l’utilizzo della key box, nel parcheggio pubblico adiacente al civico 197, verso il paese, si trova la nostra key box.
Essa è installata in modo da non essere visibile dalla strada. Dovrete pertanto entrare nel parcheggio pubblico, camminare fino al cancelletto pedonale, girarvi verso la strada e, accanto alla sbarra, potrete vedere la key box. Una volta terminato il vostro soggiorno vi preghiamo di rimettere le chiavi nella key box.
Parcheggio
Una volta oltrapassata la sbarra con l’auto, girate verso destra e percorrete il vialetto. Arriverete ad una specie di piazzetta con un’aiuola nel mezzo. Il nostro parcheggio, denominato Begonia 16, si trova di fronte all’aiuola, sulla destra.
Begonia16
Una volta parcheggiata l’auto potete raggiungere l’appartamento, che si trova al primo piano, dirigendovi di fronte a voi. Vicino al parcheggio 6 c’è un’apertura che, oltrepassando una fila di oleandri, vi porterà su un vialetto. Girate a destra sul vialetto e fatti pochi passi, sulla sinistra, vi troverete l’androne che riporta i numeri 16-15-6-5.
Apertura rubinetto acqua
All’ingresso dell’androne, sulla sinistra, è situato il rubinetto generale dell’acqua. E’ necessario aprirlo. E’ marcato in modo chiaro col numero 16. Per aprirlo ruotare in senso antiorario come mostrato nell’immagine.
Alla vostra partenza vi chiediamo di chiudere l’acqua riportando la maniglia in posizione verticale.
Il vento
La Sardegna è famosa per i suoi venti, che possono essere molto intensi. Data la sua vicinanza con il mare, Begonia16 è soggetta ad essere colpita dal vento.
Vi chiediamo la gentilezza di mettere in pratica i seguenti suggerimenti per evitare danni e rischiare incidenti:
- bloccare sempre le finestre e porte-finestre, soprattutto quando lasciate la casa. Le finestre e porte-finestre sono dotate di appositi ganci. Per far ciò chiudere l’anta con la maniglia ed agganciare l’altra anta. Se il vento è molto forte è necessario bloccare anche le persiane del balcone (quelle posteriori hanno ganci per fissarle. Potete bloccarle con i sassi che trovate in terrazza usati come fermaporta.
- Quando aprite la porta di casa assicuratevi che le finestre siano bloccate e viceversa. Fondamentale per evitare schiacciamenti alle dita!
Per trovare la casa fresca potete chiudere le persiane del balcone e lasciare le finestre aperte con i ganci , sia davanti che dietro casa, in modo che circoli aria.
Gas
L’appartamento è dotato di due bombole gas GPL situate nell’armadio esterno.
Per aprire una bombola dovete aprire due rubinetti, uno sulla bombola stessa, l’altro immediatamente sopra.
Se terminate il gas di una bombola chiudete i due rubinetti della bompbola esaurita ed aprite i rubinetti della bombola adiacente.
In questo evenienza vi preghiamo di avvisarci in modo da poter organizzare la sostituzione.
Acqua
A Golfo Aranci non è consigliabile bere l’acqua del rubinetto. Potete usarla per cucinare, per fare il caffè, per lavarvi i denti e per fare la doccia.
Per tutti gli altri usi utilizzare acqua in bottiglie di plastica.
Troverete una scorta nella camera piccola sotto il tavolo. Potete utilizzare la scorta, ma vi preghiamo gentilmente di lasciare qualche bottiglia per chi verrà dopo di voi.
Kit pronto soccorso
Il kit di pronto soccorso si trova nel bagno piccolo, dietro la porta.
In caso di necessità potete sganciare la scatola facendo leva sui blocchi laterali.
Vi chiediamo gentilmente di avvisarci in caso di uso in modo da poter reintegrare ciò che viene utilizzato.
Luce cappa
Per accendere la luce sotto la cappa in cucina dovete premere l’interruttore posto sotto la cappa a destra. Ruotando lo stesso è possibile accendere l’aspiratore.
Accensione boiler
Il boiler si accende tramite l’intettuttore posto sopra lo specchio del bagno piccolo.
Sedie terrazza
Nella cameretta troverete le sedie pieghevoli da utilizzare in terrazza
TV
La TV è collegata ad un decoder e riceve i canali digitali. I canali si cambiano con il telecomando del decoder, il volume si regola con il telecomendo della TV
Aria Condizionata
La pompa di calore si aziona con telecomando che trovate in camera da letto. Nel caso non si accendesse controllate che l’interruttore vicino alla finestra sia in posizione ‘acceso’.
Se la tenete accesa vi chiediamo gentilmente di controllare di tanto in tanto il livello di acqua che viene raccolta nella tanica posta in terrazza e di vuotarla qualora fosse piena.
Immondizia
Nel villaggio l’immondizia viene gestita in questo modo. Ognuno conferisce quando vuole la propria immondizia nell’isola ecologica, che si trova vicino alla sbarra di ingresso (vedi mappa nell’immagine accanto).
I contenitori in terazzo non hanno esattamente gli stessi colori dei cassonetti dell’isola ecologica, ma ne troverete a suffienza per ogni tipologia di rifiuto.
Sono qui riportati i codici dei colori dei cassonetti presenti nell’Isola ecologia del villaggio.
INGOMBRANTI
E’ vietato conferire ingombranti nell’isola ecologica. Qualora aveste rifiuti ingombranti questi dovranno essere conferiti presso l’Ecocentro De Vizia, a pochi centinaia di metri dal villaggio. Non serve prenotare, l’unica regola e che si accede all’ecocentro solo con scarpe chiuse.
Internet
La casa non è dotata di internet, ma il segnale di tutti i gestori telefonici è molto forte e stabile ed è possibile collegarsi via telefono.
Alimentari
Per la spesa grossa vi sonsigliamo di andare ad Olbia perché più economico. Il supermercato più vicino è il Superconad al Centro Commerciale Terranova

A Golfo Aranci si trovano due minimarket, Fasolino https://maps.app.goo.gl/mJFGwEVGV1rbtHGg7 e Dettori Market CRAI https://maps.app.goo.gl/bJuALQozKN5dBHtCA, entrambi raggiungibili a piedi.
Fasolino è di qualità più alta, e una volta a settimana offre ricotta fresca dal pastore.
Mercato
Il lunedì a Golfo Aranci trovate il mercato. Si trova andando verso il porto. Si possono acquistare specialità gastronomiche sarde.
Ristoranti e gelaterie
Vicino a casa si trova La Lanterna https://lalanternagolfoaranci.com/. Ad Olbia suggeriamo la Trattoria da Leo e Lina (non ha sito internet) che offre pesce.
Per gli amanti della cucina di carne, oltre i vari agriturismi sparsi per tutto l’entroterra, suggeriamo La Gallurese, che offre cucina gallurese, pecora alla gallurese con patate, pane frattau e zuppa coata. Non ha sito internet.
A Golfo Aranci c’è anche la Friggitoria ‘La Perla’, la trovate sul lungomare per andare verso il porto. Fa un’ottimo fritto di mare da asporto.
Da segnalare anche le gelaterie Mary e RoRo’, quasi una di fronte all’altra.

La corsa dall’aeroporto al villaggio costa intorno a 70 Euro, ma può variare secondo la stagione.
La storia
Mario e Maria Grazia scoprirono Golfo Aranci per caso. Il padre di Maria Grazia – originario di un piccolo paese nel centro della Sardegna – morì improvvisamente e loro si recarono a trovare i parenti. Nel tornare verso Olbia per imbarcarsi si fermarono un paio di giorni a Golfo Aranci e si innamorarono del luogo. La Sardegna allora era selvaggia e le coste erano vergini. Golfo Aranci era costituito da una piccola comunità di pescatori di origine ponzese e di ferrovieri.
Dal 1968 tornarono ogni estate a Golfo Aranci, prima in hotel, poi con l’allargarsi della famiglia, negli anni ’70 acquistarono l’appartamento Begonia16.
Ogni estate percorrevano chilometri e chilometri nell’interno, per visitare quelle che erano, e che sono tutt’ora, le zone più desolate ed aspre di quest’isola meravigliosa.
Maria Grazia ha sempre conservato un forte senso di appartenenza all’isola.

How to get there
Begonia16 is located in the Terza Spiaggia residence, in the municipality of Golfo Aranci.
The residence is divided into two sections: EAST and WEST. Our apartment is in the Begonia block of the EAST condominium, which is the one closest to the town center of Golfo Aranci.
The address for the entrance to the EAST condominium is:
Via Libertà 197C, Golfo Aranci (SS).
At the entrance, you will find a barrier gate that can be opened either:
- With the electronic key fob attached to your apartment keys (place it on the marked area with blue LED lights), or
- Online, using a code that you can request from us.
The same electronic key fob can also be used to open the pedestrian gate, located just beside the main vehicle entrance.
The apartment includes one private parking space. If you arrive with two cars, the second vehicle must be parked outside the residence.
Key Box
If the agreed key delivery method involves the use of the key box, you will find it in the public parking area next to building number 197, in the direction of the town center.
The key box is installed in a discreet location, not visible from the street. You will need to enter the public parking area, walk towards the pedestrian gate, then turn around to face the street. Next to the barrier, you will see the key box.
At the end of your stay, please return the keys to the key box..
Parking
Once you pass through the barrier with your car, turn right and follow the driveway. You will reach a small square with a flowerbed in the center. Our parking spot, marked Begonia 16, is located in front of the flowerbed, on the right-hand side.
Begonia16
Once you have parked your car, you can reach the apartment, which is located on the first floor, by heading straight ahead. Near parking spot number 6, there is an opening that, after passing a row of oleander bushes, leads you to a pathway. Turn right onto the pathway and, after a few steps, on your left, you will see the entrance marked with the numbers 16-15-6-5.
Main Water Valve
At the entrance of the stairwell, on the left-hand side, you’ll find the main water valve. It must be opened. It is clearly marked with the number 16.
To open it, turn it counterclockwise, as shown in the image.
Upon departure, please close the valve by returning the handle to the vertical position.
Wind
Sardinia is well known for its winds, which can be very strong. Due to its proximity to the sea, Begonia16 is particularly exposed to wind.
We kindly ask you to follow these recommendations to avoid damage or accidents:
To keep the house cool, you can close the balcony shutters and leave the windows open using the hooks, both at the front and the back of the apartment, to allow for air circulation.
Always secure the windows and French doors, especially when leaving the apartment. All windows and doors are equipped with locking hooks. To secure them, close one panel using the handle and hook the other panel in place.
If the wind is very strong, you should also secure the balcony shutters. The rear shutters have built-in hooks. You can also use the stones on the terrace, which act as doorstoppers, to keep them in place.
When opening the front door, make sure that the windows are properly locked—and vice versa. This is very important to prevent finger injuries from sudden slamming!
Tap water
In Golfo Aranci, tap water is not recommended for drinking. You can safely use it for cooking, making coffee, brushing your teeth, and showering.
For all other uses, please use bottled water.
You’ll find a supply in the small bedroom under the table. You’re welcome to use it, but we kindly ask that you leave a few bottles for the next guests.
Gas
The apartment is equipped with two LPG gas cylinders located in the outdoor cabinet.
To open a cylinder, you need to open two valves: one directly on the cylinder and another one just above it.
If a cylinder runs out of gas, close both valves on the empty cylinder and open the valves on the adjacent one.
In this case, please let us know so we can arrange for a replacement.
First Aid Kit
The first aid kit is located in the small bathroom, behind the door. If necessary, you can release the box by levering the side locks. Please let us know if you use it so we can replenish it.
Kitchen light
To turn on the kitchen light, you must push the button on the right side of the kitchen hood. Once the button is released and the light turned on, you can rotate it to turn the hood extractor on.
Water heater
The boiler can be turned on with the switch above the mirror in the small bathroom.
Chairs for the terrace
In the small bedroom you will find folding chairs to use on the terrace
TV
The TV is connected to a decoder and receives digital channels. Channels are changed with the decoder’s remote control, and the volume is adjusted with the TV’s remote.
A/C
The heat pump is operated with a remote control located in the bedroom. If it doesn’t turn on, check that the switch near the window is in the “on” position.
If you keep it on, we kindly ask you to periodically check the water level in the tank on the terrace and empty it if it’s full.
Trash
Garbage is handled in the village as follows. Everyone disposes of their waste whenever they want in the recycling center, located near the entrance gate (see map on the left).
The containers on the terrace are not exactly the same colors as the bins in the recycling center, but you will find enough for each type of waste.

BULKY WASTE
Disposing of bulky waste in the recycling center is prohibited. Any bulky waste must be taken to the De Vizia Ecocenter, a few hundred meters from the village. Reservations are not required; the only rule is that the recycling center must be worn with closed shoes.
Internet
The house does not have internet, but the signal from all telephone operators is very strong and stable and it is possible to connect by telephone.
Groceries
For larger groceries, we recommend going to Olbia because it’s cheaper. The closest supermarket is the Superconad at the Terranova Shopping Center.

In Golfo Aranci, there are two minimarkets: Fasolino https://maps.app.goo.gl/mJFGwEVGV1rbtHGg7 and Dettori Market CRAI https://maps.app.goo.gl/bJuALQozKN5dBHtCA, both within walking distance.
Fasolino offers higher quality products and offers fresh ricotta from the shepherd once a week.
Market
On Mondays, you can find the market in Golfo Aranci. It’s located near the port. You can buy Sardinian food specialties.
Restaurants, Trattorie and Ice Cream parlours
Near our house is La Lanterna https://lalanternagolfoaranci.com/. In Olbia, we recommend Trattoria da Leo e Lina (no website) which serves seafood.
For meat lovers, in addition to the various agriturismi scattered throughout the hinterland, we recommend La Gallurese, which offers Gallurese cuisine, Gallurese-style sheep with potatoes, pane frattau, and zuppa coata. It doesn’t have a website.
In Golfo Aranci, there’s also the friggitoria ‘La Perla’, located on the seafront on the way to the port. It serves excellent fried seafood to take away.
Also worth a visit are the ice cream parlors Mary and RoRo’, almost opposite each other.

How it all began
Mario and Maria Grazia discovered Golfo Aranci by chance. Maria Grazia’s father—who was originally from a small village in central Sardinia—died suddenly, and they went to visit relatives. On their way back to Olbia to embark, they stopped for a couple of days in Golfo Aranci and fell in love with the place. Sardinia was wild at the time, and the coasts were untouched. Golfo Aranci consisted of a small community of fishermen of Ponza origin and railway workers.
From 1968, they returned to Golfo Aranci every summer, first to a hotel, then, as their family grew, they purchased the Begonia16 apartment in the 1970s.
Every summer, they traveled miles and miles inland to visit what were, and still are, the most desolate and rugged areas of this wonderful island.
Maria Grazia has always retained a strong sense of belonging to the island.
